THE SUN

The only certainty in life
Is that the sun will rise
But what becomes of us
If she decides to change her mind?
Could we even really blame her
When she skips her call?
For 4.6 billion years
She has given it her all
To light up the earth
Is a burdensome task
So she bids us goodbye
As we all fade to black
Will we still remember
Her warmth and her glory?
Her hours put in
When we recall her story
Yes- It is true that she burnt us
But no one is flawless
She did what she could
Her work is hard and it’s honest
We only gave her our love
When we were in need
The air becomes colder
We pay the price of our greed
As the world ices over
Will the plants miss her rays?
And in our mourning
Will the songbirds still praise?
When dawn never wakes
And the tides become frozen
Will we regret delayed thanks
To a life so uncertain?
