CHABLIS

I see so much in you to love
How can you not see any in me?
I would take your actions at face value
If you would show me vulnerability
With speed I lead the steed to water
But he still chooses not to drink
But then again if the steed is not thirsty
Who am I to disagree?
I am not the perfect lover
That I can guarantee
But I love who I love in earnest
And I let birds fly when they need to be free
I am aware that I am too honest
Too confrontational -too quick with my speech
But rather I be the devotee
Than he- the absentee
I will not sit in my sorrow
I can only hear mockery in the plea
Perhaps if I continue to sit on the shelf
I'll just age like a fine chablis
