WAR OF MIND
They say to choose your battles
But I’m fond of indecision
So I abrogate the treaties
And turn my back on religion
But I’m fond of indecision
So I abrogate the treaties
And turn my back on religion
The battles are fought in silence
Uncivil wars rage in my head
Two parties who know to fight dirty
Both armies will soon end up dead
Uncivil wars rage in my head
Two parties who know to fight dirty
Both armies will soon end up dead
I swear I want to get better
But just can’t kick the sadness
I’ve always been a traitor
Who is partial to sneaky tactics
But just can’t kick the sadness
I’ve always been a traitor
Who is partial to sneaky tactics
Anxiety wakes before dawn
And the attacks- they come without warning
Blood is shed in the night
But there is beauty in the mourning
And the attacks- they come without warning
Blood is shed in the night
But there is beauty in the mourning
All I hear is to draw
As they scream to cease my fire
I’d settle for an amicable truce
If I knew I wasn’t a liar
As they scream to cease my fire
I’d settle for an amicable truce
If I knew I wasn’t a liar
I survey the battle grounds
Searching for grief I can borrow
I’m comfortable deep in the trenches
Where I know I feel safe in the sorrow
Searching for grief I can borrow
I’m comfortable deep in the trenches
Where I know I feel safe in the sorrow
My white flag sways tall
As I burn it to the ground
Too Indulgent in self sabotage
With no one else around
As I burn it to the ground
Too Indulgent in self sabotage
With no one else around
The war zone is a nightmare
As I clumsily dodge stray shots
The casualties are plenty
But-I find there is peace in the chaos
As I clumsily dodge stray shots
The casualties are plenty
But-I find there is peace in the chaos
I lose all sense of self
As the fire lines start to blur
Am I actually as strong as they say
Or just too proud to surrender?
As the fire lines start to blur
Am I actually as strong as they say
Or just too proud to surrender?
